Soufriere, St Lucia - Recently, the Soufriere Regional Development Foundation (SRDF) embarked on a rehabilitation project on the Soufriere Jetties in an effort to enhance the quality service delivery and infrastructural safety.

“The changes were necessary in an effort to attain ISPS (International Ships and Port Facility Code) status. We were not equipped with the requirements to be ISPS compatible. With the aid of the recently held training and these renovations we are one step closer to being ISPS compliance”, said Dock Supervisor, Lennox Perpie.

Boat & Dock Attendant, Carter Emmanuel, stated “I am pleased with this accomplishment. I would like to thank management and my colleagues for making this possible.”

The scope of work undertaken included the installing of solar energized security lights, the erecting of additional safety signs, the renovating of clits and relocation of asecurity booth at the port’s Boardwalk Jetty.

Local Boat Operator, Anthony Calixte, is thrilled with the changes. “We need to keep our visitors safe when they come here to Soufriere. I am always okay when I see evolvements because it is good to improve and keep up with the times.”
