(PRESS RELEASE) – The biggest sporting spectacle on the calendar of the local cricket association, St Lucia Premiere League (SPL) is set for tonight with the opening match to be hosted in Soufriere.
The Soufriere Regional Development Foundation (SRDF), owners of the Soufriere Pitons T20 Cricket Team has been tenaciously assisting the team in preparing for the League.
Team Captain, Keither Prospere expressed gratitude to the SRDF for their initiative in purchasing the team and continued support towards the sport.
On Thursday, September 14th, 2017, the organisation presented the SRDF Soufriere Pitons with complete uniforms and gears for the tournament.
“I hope that the players realise that we are placing this investment into their development as cricketers and sportsmen and we are looking forward to not just winning the competition but making Soufriere proud” said Executive Director, Jimmy Haynes.
The opening night will see the SRDF Soufriere Pitons coming up against the noisy neighbours, Choiseul Craftmasters in a nerve racking contest at 7:30pm, this evening at the Soufriere Mini Stadium. The excitement will continue on Sunday where the SRDF Soufriere Pitons comes head to head with Nagico South Castries Lions at 4:00pm.
The organisation urges all to come out and support the SRDF Soufriere Pitons tonight and throughout the league.
